Wildfire Equipment

Although wildfires may not seem common in the UK, they devastate wildlife habitats and cause a threat to life but having the correct wildfire equipment nearby can make all the difference. With wildfires being renowned for the ability to spready quickly, then taking immediate action can prevent huge fire incidents.

In 2019, the UK saw 17,199 hectares of rural area being burnt.

Although nothing compared to the wildfires experienced in Australia, Southern Europe, and the Americas, during prolonged hot and dry spells wildfires are a serious risk in the UK. Whether it’s a mindless act of arson, or an honest accident with a cigarette or barbeque, outside spaces such as holiday parks, outdoor trails and farms should have wildfire firefighting tools to hand.

What Wildfire Equipment Do I Need?

A classic piece of kit from our wildfire range is the fire beater. Simple to use (just do what it says on the tin), it’s effective at extinguishing a small grass fire and has a long handle so you’re able to keep a safe distance from the flames. For areas with a minimal risk, this is often all that you need in addition to a fire bucket with sand or small fire extinguisher.

Where the risk is more serious, then a fire rakehoe (AKA McLeod tool) allows you to create fire lines, cut small branches and turf, and move debris from the fire path to prevent it’s spread. Partnering this with a fire rake also means the burning grass, leaves, soil and other debris can be moved to an already-burnt area to help contain the flames.

Firefighter axes are additionally useful for chopping tress and roots, as well as being down below the surface as you attempt to construct firebreaks and remove combustibles from the fire’s path.

Try Our Wildfire Firefighting Kit

The wildfire beater kit has been specifically designed by us. This makes it as easy as possible to ensure you’re fully equipped to tackle a wildland fire at the best possible price you’ll find online. Containing a fire beater, rakehoe, rake and long firefighter axe, you need to do is ensure you have somewhere suitable to store your equipment.

All our wildfire tools are made with the best materials to ensure they won’t corrode or rot, because we know they’re likely to be outside and exposed to the elements. You need to ensure the tools are kept in a location where everyone can quickly access them in an emergency. As such, in large open areas, you may need to consider having wildfire equipment in multiple locations.
