The smoke-rated door bottom seal is designed for rebated installation into a 13mm x 28mm groove that has been morticed into the bottom edge of the door. This automatic, drop-down action, door bottom seal is spring-loaded to lift clear of the floor as soon as the door leaf is opened by a few millimetres. It operates automatically by the pressure of the door jamb on the seal's adjusting screw to drop down and seal when the door closes and retracts when the door opens.

The seal can be fitted inside (lock side using bumper provided) or outside of the door (non-lock side) and has been tested for durability without failure for fire-rated smoke doors up to 200,000 cycles. With a 14mm maximum drop, the seal drops on the hinge side before the lock side and is suitable for all types of swing doors with a min/max gap of 3mm and 13mm, and even provides noise reduction up to 42 decibels.

 

The smoke-rated rebated bottom door seals can be cut down to size. While the 330mm and 430mm sizes can be cut down by 50mm and 125mm respectively, all other sizes can be cut down by a maximum of 150mm.
