Fire hose reels can be located at strategic points throughout public and commercial buildings, to provide easy access to a flow of water in the event of a fire. They can be highly useful before the arrival of the fire brigade, and in addition to their own hoses. Hose reels are essential in high rise buildings and large industrial complexes, where the fire service would have to set up multiple lengths of hose in order to get water to certain locations.
