Water Mist Fire Extinguishers

Water mist fire extinguishers, including foam mists, are revolutionary in the world of domestic firefighting. The portable extinguishers are far more efficient than standard water and foam fire extinguishers, as well as removing the risk of electrocution and preventing collateral damage, such as flooding.

They are also suitable for use on more types of fire. These include Class A (wood, paper, cloth, etc), Class B (flammable liquids), and Class F (cooking oils and fat). In addition, they’re tested to 35kV, meaning water mist fire extinguishers can also be used on electrically-started fires.

How Do Water Mist Fire Extinguishers Work?

A specially designed rotor mixes water and air in a pre-set proportion to generate a fine mist of 40-60 micron molecules. These tiny droplets have a surface area coverage many times higher than water in its natural state. The principle is simple: the smaller the particles of water, the further they spread and the faster they cool.

Water is propelled through a specially modified dip tube to a special nozzle to produce Watermist particles. On contact with the flames, the mist turns into steam and envelopes the fire. This blanket effect cools the blaze down and brings the oxygen supply to below combustion levels. Without oxygen or heat, the fire dies out and because this isn’t water in its natural state, the dangers of electrocution and flooding are eliminated.

Why Choose A Water Mist Fire Extinguisher?

Powerful, reliable and efficient, these have superior firefighting power compared to a traditional water or foam fire extinguisher of the same size. Plus, they’re filled with de-ionised water, which is free of synthetics and chemicals, meaning they cause no water damage and leave no residue for easy clean-up. This makes them the ideal choice for sensitive environments, such as historic buildings, churches and kitchens.

With all of the relevant approvals and testing, including the British Kitemark, LCPB approval, and CE Marked.

Our FireChief range of water mist fire extinguishers is also unique compared to others on the market. With higher fire ratings and longer discharge times than some, they’re also available in a wider range of sizes so you can find the exact extinguisher to suit your needs. Additionally, the range includes foam mist fire extinguishers which are far safer to use flammable liquid fires.
