Fire Point Marking Signs

Fire point marking signs are used to label fire assembly points and/or equipment. Our self-adhesive numbered signs can be easily fixed to the wall below your chosen fire point. They can also be used to mark fire alarms, extinguishers and other firefighting equipment.

Our fire point marking signs are available in a flush wall-mounted design or as a 90-degree panoramic marker, for extra visibility. We also stock numbered multipacks of 1-100 and 1-300, as well as individually numbered signs to suit your requirements.

All styles are made from robust Jalite AAA PVC plastic, for maximum strength and resistance to damage. They are also photoluminescent to ensure they can be seen at all times – even in a power cut or smoke-filled room.

What colour are fire point marking signs?

All fire point marking signs have a red background and white text under the Safety Signs and Signals Regulations 1996. Red is the associated colour for any signage related to fire or danger. Therefore, you will notice that all fire safety equipment is also red to align with these British and European Standards (BS EN3).

Along with being the official fire safety colour, red stands out and can be easily spotted in an emergency. This helps in both low-lighting conditions, as well as smoke-filled rooms.

Is a fire point sign mandatory?

It's advisable to use fire point signs to number all fire equipment, particularly in larger buildings that have multiple fire extinguishers on each floor. Current legislation states that there should be a minimum of two fire extinguishers per floor. Floors smaller than 100m2 can just have a single fire extinguisher installed.

Using fire point marking signs will help keep check of the quantity of equipment during routine checks and servicing, but also identify their location in an emergency.

Fire assembly points should also be clearly marked so that building occupants know exactly where to go when evacuating from a fire. The location or number can then be marked on other signage within the building, such as fire action notices.
