Let’s say you’ve spent a lot of money, and now you have a new office people love to come and work in. Other businesses are envious of how good your office looks. So it’s always a shame when you have to fill it with bright red fire extinguishers.
Of course, fire safety is paramount. But that doesn’t mean you necessarily have to sacrifice on style. Chrome fire extinguishers are exactly the same as their traditional red colleagues.
This means your modern office, or home, can remain looking stylish whilst still keeping it safe.
The Chrome Fire Extinguisher
They are great because they combine high levels of functionality with good looks.
That then allows you to put an extinguisher where aesthetics is of high importance. For example, they are a common feature in hotels, restaurants and modern offices.
Chrome extinguishers are either made from stainless steel or aluminium. They are then polished to create their stunning look.
And because of this, they are less prone to corrosion. This means that that will last longer in outdoor conditions and swimming pools than red extinguishers.
They also come in different sizes and types. That allows you to have a chrome extinguisher regardless of the threat you’re protecting against.
You can also match them with a chrome stand to ensure your modern style continues.
Are They Legal?
This can be a common source of confusion. The quick answer is yes, they are legal. However, they do not fully conform to British Standards.
The BS EN3-7: 2004 standard states that for approval, 95% of the fire extinguisher body must be red. This is so they can be quickly spotted.
But this standard is only a recommendation, rather than law. However, they do carry other approvals, which means you will still comply with current regulations.
Instead, extinguishers must display a CE Mark to legally comply. And this is something which chrome extinguishers do carry.
It is important to remember that they are also made from the exact same components as their red counterparts. Their function and effectiveness are also the same.
That means you know they are still made to the British Standard, even if they don’t fully comply.
You can then rest assured that installing a chrome extinguisher will still mean you conform to laws and regulations. And are still providing equipment which is safe for anyone to use.
That’s good news then for those who require good looks and quality from everything in their premises; even the fire protection equipment.
