Commonly used in an emergency situation for rescue or self-evacuation, the vertical decent kit has everything to securely descend down the side of a structure or down a hole. Included within the kit is a 2-point safety harness, a 12mm detachable rope grab, 15 or 30 metres of Kernmantle static rope, a carabiner and a nylon drawstring bag to keep it all safe in.
The safety harness is comfortable to wear all day is compliant with European Standard EN 361, is lightweight, fully-adjustable and includes a quick release buckle. With red and blue contrasting straps which make it easy to inspect, it features a sliding rear D-ring and frontal webbing loops, with a sub-pelvic strap to ensure you always remain upright.
With a choice of 15 or 30 meters of Kernmantle static rope available, you should hopefully have enough to safely ascend or descend to the surface or another platform. The rope is compliant with European Standard EN 1891 and 12mm in diameter, it’s low stretch, high strength and tightly woven to prevent it untangling and remain secure. When used with the 12mm detachable rope grab included within the vertical decent kit, this locks to prevent a fall whilst allowing for easy attachment and detachment as required.
The safety harness within the Portwest vertical decent kit is easy to put on yourself, simply just put your arms through and secure the straps around your chest and legs. Don’t forget to select whether you need 15 or 30 metres of static rope to suit your requirements.
