Emergency Exit & Panic Hardware

As standard, an emergency exit door will only have hardware on the inside, meaning the door can only be opened internally so it is secure from the outside. However, if you do need to access the premises from outside the property, you can also install external access devices too, which are lockable and secure without affecting their use during an emergency

You can also take steps to prevent unauthorised use when there isn’t an evacuation. Our range includes fire door seals, which are a simple solution to see whether a door has been opened, to installing an alarm on the door which activates as soon as it is opened.

Push bars, crash bars and push pads all make it incredibly easy to open the door in one motion. Simply push on the pad or bar to instantly release the latch or bolt, which also pushes the door open at the same time – they really are that simple and ensure you comply with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

It’s also a good idea to provide appropriate signage. Emergency exit signs should direct occupants to their nearest emergency exit so they can be followed during an evacuation. Additionally, signage should be installed within the vicinity of the door so it can be identified and provide immediate instructions on how to operate the door and the equipment provided.

While you’re installing, inspecting or maintaining your emergency exit doors, it’s also a great idea to take a look at the internal fire doors within the premises to ensure they’re compliant and up to the job of keeping people safe.
