Traffic Mirrors

Safety and traffic mirrors provide drivers, business owners and pedestrians with a complete view of their surroundings. We offer a large range of sizes, shapes and specifications for indoor and outdoor use – all available for next-day delivery.

We supply 180° heavy-duty and lightweight convex mirrors – ideal for driveways or car parks, alongside our speed bumps – as well as shock-resistant industrial mirrors particularly useful for high-risk spaces such as factories or logistics depots.

For internal spaces – such as corridors, entrances, lifts and offices – panoramic dome mirrors are a great security measure. Our telescopic inspection mirrors are perfect for a clearer view of hard-to-reach areas, such as underneath machinery or cars.

Traffic mirrors and safety mirrors are a cost-effective way to monitor and maintain optimal safety in work or domestic environments. We've answered a few of the most common questions regarding these types of mirrors.

How to position a traffic mirror

There are a few basic factors to consider when positioning your traffic mirror to view a busy road: height, viewing distance and size. These three factors will help determine the best position or placement for safer and easier manoeuvring.

If you're wanting to see two-way traffic (left and right) then it's a good idea to use two mirrors, for the best possible view. Although you may be able to see both ways with a 180° or dome mirror, you will have a lot clearer view with one angled to each side.

Viewing distance is the space between the viewer and the mirror. So, to clearly see your mirror from 10 metres away, you'll want to opt for a 450 mm mirror. The bigger the mirror, the longer the viewing distance.

Positioning your traffic mirror at the right height will not only give you the best possible view of oncoming traffic, but it's also a crucial safety measure for road users. Fixing it at an incorrect height can reflect light into others' eyes which could cause avoidable accidents.

For installation, always refer to the user instructions based on the specific mirror.

Do I need planning permission for a traffic mirror?

Traffic mirrors on private land do not usually require planning permission, however, the specific requirements can vary depending on your district or borough council. It is best to seek advice from your local planning office regarding your individual circumstance, in line with the most up-to-date regulations.

Can I put a traffic mirror on the street?

Installing traffic or safety mirrors on public roads will require authorisation from your local council. However, some councils, such as Suffolk County Council, will not agree to requests for mirrors on the road. This is because they are responsible for the overall safety and maintenance of these roads, and cannot guarantee the impact or risk the mirror may have on other road users.
