Our Thoughts
Although this makes for quite an amusing video, the incident could have been a lot more serious.
The man in question doesn’t need reminding that petrol is a flammable liquid, and can ignite with the slightest spark.
That’s why petrol stations ask you to not smoke when you’re on the forecourt.
So you need to take extra care of what you do when around any type of flammable substance.
Even though his common sense may have failed him initially, he dealt with the incident in a calm and quick manner.
The petrol station attendant hit the stop button quickly, preventing a flow of fuel to the fire.
And the man soon found the right fire extinguisher and used it to put out the fire.
Although a petrol station would not supply inappropriate extinguishers, you should still know to use a dry powder one.
Using water will only act to spread the fire, whereas dry powder will smother the flames of oxygen.
You should only ever attempt to extinguish a fire yourself if you judge the situation to be safe enough to do so.
Otherwise, call the fire brigade as soon as possible and evacuate everyone away to safety.
And when faced with a spider, either leave the spider alone or carefully catch the spider and move it away.
If you’re an arachnophobe, then ask someone to do this for you.
But whatever you do, don’t use a lighter…
