In the workplace, you know the safety of everyone working or visiting is important. That’s why having a small fire alarm is an essential piece of kit for a temporary work environment. The type of fire hazard can change between situations, but the way in which you can safely alert everyone is the same.
Whether it’s a building site, small shop, campsite or a marquee, you need a quick way of alerting everyone of a danger. You might want just one, or consider having several alarms and linking them together in a larger area.
Here are four which we think you should consider using:
The Howler Site Alert Fire Alarm
This is a simple and affordable device made of tough plastic to take the demands of your site.
It has a loud alarm at 100 decibels, which won’t have any trouble warning people about a fire and features a bright red light, which flashes when activated to also visually make people aware.
To operate, all someone has to do is push the illuminated button, and it will sound accordingly. To hush, all you have to do is push the button three times.
You can also have up to 20 of these linked on a wired system, which means they all get activated at the same time.
The Megalarm Fire Alarm
It too has a loud siren, and also features a strobe light which will help people to notice the alarm. That means raising the alarm is still possible in a noisy environment, such as a construction site.
Use of this device also means others can be hard-wired into it to make people aware in various locations straightway.
The Alert Point Fire Alarm
This robust alarm system is tamper-proof thanks to having hidden screws. You also have a choice of which noise it makes and how loud it sounds, so that it suits your needs and comes with a key which can reset the device quickly.
You can choose between either having a standard fire alarm, and a ‘lite’ version which is good if you want just one alarm and call point in a small area.
The standard version allows you to connect it to other devices with a relay output system. This allows you to make an effective fire alarm system using bell wire. These include sounders, strobes, call points & detectors, providing an extra level of protection.
The Howler Wireless Site Alert Master Unit
It looks just like the Howler Site Fire Alarm from earlier, but connects to other devices in a different way. Multiple units can connect together using the wireless system.
This is ideal for where you need them in different places, but when a wired connection between them is not viable, allowing the installation of fire alarms with relative ease across a vast site.
You need to have a master unit, which can have up to 30 subsidiary units connected to it. It features the same loud alarm and bright warning light as the other Howler device. The strong plastic it’s made from, means it is weatherproof and can go just about anywhere.
Any of these devices can be a stand-alone fire alarm, and in such a case, installation is easy with no wires.
Make sure to pick a fire alarm system which will best suit the needs of your site.
As well as having a fire alarm system in operation, you also need to have an evacuation plan which everyone knows.
