Megaphones

Megaphones are a must-have for any company or public event. Their versatile use makes them ideal for basic crowd control or directing employees in an emergency. We have a range of cheap and budget megaphones to suit a variety of different needs.

If you're looking for a system that does-it-all, our portable PA system with two wireless microphones is perfect. It has a powerful 50W output and an impressive 8-hour battery life – ideal for large outdoor events or indoor presentations. A great cost-effective and lightweight alternative is our 25W megaphone and lightweight microphone. It projects sound up to a distance of 1km and is made of heavy-duty ABS plastic.

All megaphones come with our standard 100-day returns policy and free next-day delivery when ordered before 2 pm.

Lightweight Megaphones

Our most popular model is the 15W lightweight megaphone which delivers clear sound quality thanks to its piezo technology and has low power consumption, so your batteries last longer (and it takes AA batteries which cost less). It's suitable for fire drills, and sports coaching including rowing, school fetes, village fairs, pub fun days and almost any outdoor event. Easy to carry, this smart megaphone also includes an emergency siren and whistle sound, and a battery power level indicator. (remember to buy your batteries with your megaphone right here at Fire Protection Online)

Economy Megaphone

If you prefer a hand-held microphone, the 25W economy megaphone is ideal for all fire wardens and fire marshals, (although hand on heart, our 20-watt megaphone is actually louder and more durable) but this 25-watt model features a siren switch.

More Punch for Your Pounds

For full professional use, see the 25W heavy-duty megaphones, featuring a choice of pistol grip only or grip plus handheld microphone and shoulder carry strap. Thanks to a 12v jack power lead and car power plug (12v DC) you can even use these from a vehicle without draining the megaphone's battery power. With a 1km range and lots of decibels, a heavy-duty megaphone definitely should be used outside for best results, making them ideal for Police, public order, construction sites, airfields, boat yards, etc.

Tips for choosing a megaphone for work:

Megaphone Volume & Range

Consider the size of the area where you need to use the megaphone. If you need to be able to be heard in a large area, you will need a megaphone with a long range.

Megaphone Features

Think about the features that are important to you. Some megaphones have features such as a siren, a rechargeable battery, or a shoulder strap.

Megaphone Reviews

Read reviews of different megaphones before you make a purchase. This will help you to get an idea of the quality of different models and to find the best megaphone for your needs.

How to use a megaphone

Megaphones are simple to use, with most having a trigger or button that just needs to be held down whilst speaking into the mouthpiece. You will also see an 'ON/OFF' switch and volume controls, usually on the side.

More advanced megaphones may have a record and playback function, however, these are clearly labelled on the device and easy to operate.

Our 45W megaphone also includes multiple inlets – such as a 3.5mm AUX port, USB slot and SD card slot – to connect devices like microphones and memory cards.

Do megaphones need batteries?

Most standard megaphones are portable and require batteries for operation. The type of battery will differ depending on your chosen model, however, Type C, D, and AA batteries are the most common. We also supply megaphone batteries, so you can stock up on these whilst placing your order.

If the megaphone will be used on a regular basis – such as for a fire marshall or on a construction site – you may want to consider a rechargeable model which can be easily recharged using a USB to DC cable.

How loud is a megaphone?

The output of your megaphone depends on the wattage of the model. The sound output is usually measured by reach, for example, our portable 10W megaphone has a reach of 500m, whilst our 45W megaphone can be heard at an impressive 1.5km away.

Are megaphones water-resistant?

Our portable and cheap megaphones are designed for outdoor use and are made from durable ABS plastic which is easy to clean and corrosion-resistant. That being said, we recommend avoiding over-using the megaphone in heavy rain as this may affect the life lifespan of the device or impact the electrical outlets on certain models. Always check the specification of your megaphone before exposing it to water.
