When you’re needing to monitor a large open area for smoke, such as a sports hall, warehouse or factory, having a beam detection system is the most reliable and economical solution. Installation of traditional smoke detectors can be expensive in such settings, but in some instances may also be prohibited.

No such restrictions apply to beam detection systems, they are easy to install and commission, as well as being cheaper to install. Using an optical beam which is aimed at a reflector on the opposite wall, the unit then analyses the returned light to determine whether smoke is present.

When the returned light falls below a pre-set percentage, it will then raise the alarm and alert everyone to the potential threat.

Condensation, formed when warm air meets and cold surface, can cause false alarms using this system, but with the Anti-Fog lens and reflectors, condensation won’t be a problem due to the nano-coating on the surface.

And with the standard Firebeam kit being able to monitor between 5 and 40 metres, range extender kits are also available which create a larger reflective surface to detect smoke in a distance of up to 100 metres.
