Whether you call them a fire warden or a fire marshal, your highly trained fire staff is only useful if your staff know who they are, and in a large organisation, just knowing their name won't be enough in an emergency scenario. In a fire emergency, one of the most important elements of a safe and ordered evacuation will be the issuing of an audible alarm, followed by clear and precise instructions. Yet so many of our modern communications are dependent on electrical power, so what happens if the power fails just as the alarm is needed, or indeed during regular maintenance or other 'off' periods?
