Why are your prices so low - what is different about your fire safety equipment?

Our most popular question! You should be really asking why the other prices are so high. Our prices are low because we use the most modern systems and have a happy, thoroughly trained staff. Plus, we do not employ any sales people or have the costs, literature and prices to support them. And, we do not even have a credit control department. Low running costs and efficiency are all passed on to our customers by way of lower prices.

Fire Protection Online does 'exactly what it says on the tin'. If Amazon sold commercial fire extinguishers, their prices would be like ours. If Tesco sold them, their prices would be like ours. Note - our products generally cost less than at both Amazon and Tesco.

Then there is our buying power. We are among the top buyer for many of our suppliers and that gets better prices that are passed on to you. We only use the top brand suppliers and, due to constant moving stocks, we have no old, out of date products.

Who Manufactures Your Fire Extinguishers?

Our main supplier are the giant UTC Corporation that owns Chubb Fire, Gloria, Kidde, Pyrene, Thomas Glover & Company, Firepower, PowerX, Sicli and others - plus they own Otis lifts and Sikorsky helicopters - and Fire Depot, makers of the Firechief brand. Our Firepower range is manufactured alongside Chubb Fire's extinguishers in Europe's largest factory under the Thomas Glover name and sold only through the UK fire safety industry. The budget PowerX range is made for Thomas Glover in China.

Are Your Fire Extinguishers Supplied Ready For Use?

Yes, they are factory filled and tested and, upon arrival, you only need to screw the hose or swivel horn on. We supply a comprehensive instruction booklet to explain all you need to know including recommended positioning advice and some helpful information web site links plus a CE Certificate Of Conformity.

Note - BS 5306 part 3 recommends that new fire extinguishers should be commissioned by a competent engineer (meaning qualified). We offer this service at the point of sale on the web site but details are in the booklet and this can be arranged after delivery. Failure to do this may invalidate your insurance and is a risk.

Do your fire extinguishers need servicing?

All extinguishers need proper maintenance every year by a qualified service company. We offer servicing of any make or type of fire extinguisher at fixed low prices and you won't be surprised to learn that we are changing the way servicing is done to put the power back in the hands of you, our customer.

Can you service our fire extinguishers?

Fire Protection Online operate our Easy Service Plans in every corner of the UK. But, we are changing the way that servicing is priced and are dramatically reducing company's servicing costs. Your costs over a five year period will be massively less - guaranteed. Call us on 0800 321 3145 if you want to know how.

  • No hidden charges
  • All service parts included
  • Unique money back guarantee - if you don't like our service, you don't pay
  • No binding contracts

My current service company cannot service your extinguishers. What should I do?

Absolute boolah! A professional service technician will have been trained to service any type of extinguisher from any manufacturer in the UK. If they cannot, get another service company in. Did you know that we service any type or make and in all corners of the UK? See above.

Do your extinguishers need discharge testing every five years?

All our extinguishers are manufactured to the same BS EN3 and should be serviced in accordance with the current national British Standard 5306 part 3. This means that they generally need an extended service, also known as a discharge test (CO2's require a different test) every five years as part of a proper maintenance plan. However, if you look at refill prices (even our refill prices!), we sell new extinguishers at a lower price; and that's not including adding on the 'extra' parts that will be needed.

My service company says that genuine, new safety equipment cannot be sold for such low prices

We are not surprised as they have probably been selling theirs at three or four times our price for that last few years. Our extinguishers have every necessary UK approval, are made in Europe's largest factory and are sold by most of the UK servicing companies. But, did you realise that your service engineer is probably being paid commission and has sales targets? And, he is likely just passing on the misinformation that he has been fed by his bosses. Dig out an old invoice from them and compare the prices to ours - you may be shocked!
