Berlin’s Tegal airport was engulfed in smoke on Thursday, as a wooden barracks in the military section of the airport caught fire.
The blaze was tackled by an impressive 135 firefighters and 35 emergency vehicles, and air traffic was only interrupted for 30 minutes. Four incoming flights, including one operated by national airline Lufthansa, were diverted to Berlin’s eastern Schoenefeld airport, due to the large clouds of smoke which made landing difficult.
The barracks were empty at the time of the blaze, and until recently had been used as a quarantine office.
If you are responsible for fire safety on an airfield, race track, or large industrial site, you may not know that Fire Protection Online sell a selection of Fire Brigade quality fire fighting equipment. For example, our tough fire fighting hose has a special polyurethane coating to prevent the hose getting scuffed and snagged when used on concrete surface or rough ground.
We also sell larger fire extinguishers, such as a 45kg wheeled CO2 fire extinguisher, ideal for dealing with spot fires in large hangers, garages or areas of electrical equipment. If you can’t see what you need, just call or email us, and our fire expert Jason will be happy to help.

Fire is such a strong adversary that most people are often defeated, left only with nothing but painful memories. Knowledge and preparation is one’s most effective weapons against fires. Clare

Hi Phil
Airplane regulations are a bit tricky so I would approach someone like http://www.ffeuk.com/product-avfext.html as they would know the details I expect.
